The Met NYC: Guided Tour with Carla Mathis March 23
“Appreciating the Female Form through History” – March 23 in New York City, 4pm – 6:30pm
Join Image Master Carla Mathis for an intimate guided tour through several of the collections at The Met in New York City. Viewing artworks of women throughout history, Carla will share her wisdom and perspective for appreciating the female form.
Artists paint and sculpt what they see. When they look at a woman they paint or sculpt where her body is curvy, where the skin is taught over her flesh, where it is soft and supple, where her skin wrinkles, the texture of her hair AS IT IS. The advent of photoshopping and reshaping our bodies has diminished our appreciation of who we are of how beautifully we are formed. This innovative tour will explore the connection between a woman’s body and her identity. The intimate relationship between how she looks and who she is as revealed through centuries of fine art. These paintings, these sculptures have much to teach us about self-acceptance, about owning our own beauty.
